Oxford: Introduction to Fossil Free Careers
Fossil Free Careers Introduction
Join Oxford Climate Justice Campaign for an introductory workshop to our newest campaign: Fossil Free Careers. If you want to get involved in the fight for climate justice but don't know where to start, this is the workshop for you!
Date: Wednesday 26th February, 18.00-19.30.
Location: Zoom (link provided via email)
Event Description
The oil, gas, and mining industries are responsible for the worsening climate and ecological crisis. But Oxford is complicit too.
Every year, the Oxford Careers Service actively props up the big polluters, by securing them a steady stream of graduate workers. But students across the UK are fighting back and demanding that our universities no longer act as a recruitment pipeline into the extractive industries. Oxford Climate Justice Campaign is joining that fight.
Join us for an introductory workshop with People & Planet, where you can learn how to get stuck into the campaign. We'll learn about why the extractive industries are so bad, why it's important that we focus on recruitment, and the power that students have to break the ties between universities and the oil, gas, and mining industries.
This workshop is open to all. It requires no previous involvement or knowledge. The workshop is interactive, although all activities are optional, and there will be breaks throughout.

People & Planet is the largest student network in the UK campaigning for social and environmental justice. We envision a future in which spiralling inequality, instability, climate crisis and resource depletion are reversed, and a world in which the balance of power in society has fundamentally shifted to an equal world that benefits all of us.
